The MarketLink application currently supports continuous double auction, posted offer auction, and posted bid auction experiments that are conducted over the Internet. Two main types of market environments are currently supported - a commodity market and an asset market.

• Commodity market - In commodity market experiments, each commodity unit has a cost of production and a value in consumption. These experiments are typically used to test market structure models, including competitive, duopoly, and monopoly markets.
• Asset market - In asset market experiments, traders begin each period with both units of a currency and units of the asset. The asset pays a dividend in each period, and traders can either buy or sell the asset.

This section provides two types of information. There are discussions of each experiment type, and also instructions on the steps required to run these experiments. If you aren't familiar with the MarketLink software, you'll want to review the information below on Java Web Start and on "Starting and Joining an Experiment Session," but if you are familiar with MarketLink you can see all of the existing MarketLink experiments here.
